Bishop Primeau Council, #10896
The Knights of Columbus is an international organization of 1.8 million men whose principal work is helping others. Council #10896 is extremely dedicated to the many different services they offer the St. John Neumann community and the greater community. The Knights of Columbus is a great place for fellowship and a way you can give back to the community.

Meetings
- Officers' meetings are held once a month, the 2nd Monday, at 6:30 pm.
- Business Meetings are held once a month, the 2nd Monday, at 7:00 pm.
- Meetings are held in the church hall, Room #3.
Scholarship
The Application has been released for this year's $1,000.00 Knights of Columbus Scholarship for High School Seniors that are Parishioners of St. John Neumann going on to College or Higher Education

The Application (when click link, docx is downloaded) should be done online and emailed back to Tom Davis by Friday, May 24, 2024, along with a copy of the applicant's most recent grades, to allow time for the judging and to have the scholarship ready to be presented at the Graduation Mass on Sunday, June 9, 2024.

Our Council's History
The Bishop Primeau Council was founded on June 5, 1992 through the efforts of its thirty charter members. It is named after Bishop Primeau who was the sixth Bishop of Manchester. The Council works as an integral part of the St. John Neumann Parish in South Merrimack, providing funds for various projects and working jointly on parish programs.

More About Bishop Primeau
The sixth Bishop of Manchester was the Most Reverend Ernest J. Primeau. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, on September 17, 1909. He was ordained a priest for service in the Archdiocese of Chicago on April 7, 1934. After serving in parishes and teaching in the Archdiocese, Ernest Primeau spent twelve years in Rome, with his primary duty to serve as rector of St. Mary of the Lake, the Chicago house of studies.
In 1958, he was named pastor of one of the largest parishes in the city of Chicago. In 1959 he was appointed by Blessed Pope John XXIII to be the sixth Bishop of Manchester. Albert Cardinal Myer ordained him a bishop in Chicago on February 13, 1960 and he was installed in Manchester by Richard Cardinal Cushing on March 15, 1960. He was one of the leading bishops from North America during the Second Vatican Council and spent a great deal of time in Rome in the early 1960s. He also founded the first foreign mission of the diocese in 1963 in Cartago, Columbia.
Bishop Primeau became the first bishop of Manchester to resign from office on January 30, 1974. He died in Manchester on June 6, 1989.
