Adult Confirmation Classes will begin in September. Classes will be held to prepare any adults who would like to be Confirmed. Confirmation is one of the three Sacraments of Initiation. Confirmation is regarded as the perfection of Baptism, as it is stated in the introduction to Confirmation;
"by the Sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith in word and deed."
Confirmation, like all the Sacraments moves our Spirit ever closer to the Lord, and leads us to build God’s Kingdom here on Earth. On a practical side, one is called to be fully initiated (Baptized, First Communion, and Confirmed) before one can be a sponsor or Godparent for one being Baptized or Confirmed. Likewise, the same goes with couples who are preparing for Marriage. If they are Catholic, they should be Confirmed. However there are always special cases that arise and exceptions are made in terms of Marriage.
If you are interested in beginning the Adult Confirmation process, please call or email Fr. Glasgow in the office.
The actual Confirmation ceremony will take place at the Cathedral in Manchester by the Bishop (one in the spring and fall).
Classes will be both in the early Fall and Winter.
